"How To Manage Your Time Online and Still Have Time To Sleep!"
By Peg Bastin

I probably spend far too much time on email - but I love it
as many of you well know! I generally check my messages 3
times daily. I get up about 5:30 am, put the coffee on, and
check my inbox before I get ready for work. I answer any
necessary items, enter contests (so I can be first!) Then
off to work.

Since I work at a computer every day as data entry temp for
the State of Delaware, I have the opportunity to check my
email at lunchtime. This way, when I arrive home after work
I don't have 200 messages waiting for me. Since I've
recently gotten a part time job on the weekend, I need to
manage my time carefully so I can keep up with things. I
used to count on the weekends to work on my online
business.

When I get home at 11:30pm, I check my email again, enter
contests (one week I won 12 of them!) I'll communicate with
some of my favorite online folks, if they ask for profiles,
feedback, etc, my motto is: "ask and ye shall receive!"
It's only fair, since you always answer my questions.
Right? Keeping in touch with friends is essential for
business.

After doing my email chores, there is always an article to
work on, newsletters to read or save for later, new ideas
or lessons to learn on the computer, write more creative
headlines, place ads, etc. I try to do one chore each night
for a couple of hours.

My marketing schedule is simple, and allows for some
flexibility as the need arises. I make a plan for a week at
a time. Don't forget to allow a day off each week to
prevent burnout. Although I haven't figured out yet how to
go 'cold turkey' for a whole day without getting on the
computer!

Here is my basic plan:

  • Monday:
Submit to search engines. You'll need to set a
schedule to submit to a different group of search
engines each week. Submit some ads.

  • Tuesday:
Work on my articles, enter contests, submit ads.

  • Wednesday:
Read an ebook I've downloaded and see where I can use
the information I learn. Submit ads, look for websites
    for reciprocal linking.

  • Thursday:
Place my regular weekly classified ads, enter more
    contests, read newsletters.

  • Friday:
I work til 11pm, so I just check my email and take
care of necessary items, and submit ads.

  • Saturday:
My day for household chores, and errands. Work on
creating new ads and headlines, and learn to do
something new on the computer. Then go to work 5pm to
    11pm.

  • Sunday:
Read newsletters til I go to work. When I return at
8pm, enter contests, submit more ads.

Of course, there is much more to be done, web maintenance,
and updating, tracking ads, reciprocal links, web links,
set up autoresponder messages, and much more. This is the
plan I have been developing so that I find time to cover
all the different marketing chores that go into making a
successful business. There is never enough time to get it
all done. But therein lies the challenge - to see how much
you can accomplish!

Hey! Who needs to sleep anyway?
